Artist Statement

I use Joypeace3 as my email and webpage name in Honor of God who fills my heart with these emotions. He is the source of my gifts and talents. The 3 represents the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It also represents my 3 beloved children.

Portrait Paintings - Started as a way to comfort a friend who had lost her dear husband, Doug Carroll, to cancer. Ralene was overjoyed and hung it above her fireplace. I felt as if I had in a small way, given a part of her husband back to her. A year later, an eighteen year old friend of my son died. I knew I had to paint him for his mother. Again, it was a very emotional reunion. It was as if God was using my paint brush to bring healing to broken hearts.

Sacred Artwork -  Was created from scripture, research, and prayer, as a means of teaching others about the character of God and as a form of Worship.

JUST Because  -  These paintings are done in complete jubilence as I love recreating the beauty that has been made JUST for our delight!!! And yes, this is a form of Sacred Art as I try to bring Honor to His handi-work.

Nehemiah  -  Paintings that are based on the Book of Nehemiah and his role as Leader and Servant of the Lord. Being an artist, I wanted to combine the emotion of Nehemiah with artistic imagery in a way that would simplify the message.  So I did just what Nehemiah did. . .I prayed.  The images and the writings before you are from the desires the Lord put into my heart.  A 48x36 painting represents each of the 13 chapters in Nehemiah plus the introduction.  Each painting is based on one of the 12 colors of the color wheel and accented with the split-complementary colors which create brilliant effects.  The introduction to the show is painted black on white.  The last chapter is painted white on black.  These two paintings have a Cross hidden on them.

Historical Images  -  These were painted from 1920's black & white photographs from Jacksonville Beach, FL.   They tell the story of the Beaches area and how people lived and loved life in the 20's through means of transportation. The challenge was to combine reality with imagination and to bring the past into the present.   To add a creative twist, all the paintings are tied togehter with a theme of the color RED.  Red represents love, and it is through this that in my paintings, History comes to life.

"For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable."
